A food and wine lover's extravaganza from Barcelona to Paris!

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Barcelona

Day 2: Morning Gourmet Walking Tour - Enjoy a flavoursome journey through Barcelona, winding through the historic centre sampling Catalan delicacies and discovering the dishes that have earned Barcelona its reputation for gastronomic excellence.

Day 3: Depart by train to the South of France! Your Bed & Breakfast hosts, Keith and Cynthia, will meet you in Carcassonne and escort you to your home stay in Limoux. Enjoy a walk in the local area and wine tasting at Sieur d'Arques winery.   In the evening sample La Blanquette de Limoux (the original "champagne") and al fresco regional aperos during an orientation Q&A.

Day 4: The day begins with a trip to the lively market in nearby Espéraza.

 

Lunch in Rennes le Château, reputed to be the site of the Cathar treasure and the inspiration for The da Vinci Code.  

Day 5: Enjoy the all-day Wine & Food Paring Workshop at Domaine Gayda (Côtes de la Malpère) which includes lunch.

The evening is free to sample local cuisine using your newfound knowledge! Keith & Cynthia will offer suggestions for a local restaurant.
Day 6: We're off to tour La Cité (World Heritage Site) the medieval walled old town of Carcassonne, then on to an afternoon Canal du Midi boat cruise.

In the evening, enjoy a gourmet meal at Limoux's acclaimed Tantine et Tonton.

Day 7: A trip down to the Mediterranean takes us through Corbières wine country. Lunch by the Sea is preceded by Corbières, and followed by, Muscat tastings.

Evening free: perhaps a mid-evening gathering for café and Armagnac at Café le Commerce in Limoux's main square, Place de la République.

Day 8: Day free to explore: Try magnificent caves at Limousis, hot springs and thermal baths at Rennes-les-Bains, hike between the four castles of Lastours - a spectacular variety of choices!

This evening partake of a five-course meal, wine included, at Château de Cavanac.

Day 9: Transfer by train to Paris where you'll have the evening free to explore!
Day 10: 1/2 Day sightseeing tour with lunch at the 58 Tour Eiffel Restaurant.

Day 11: After the tour ends, those who have purchased the air package will be transferred to the airport.
